Am I a candidate?

Who is a good candidate for full-arch implants?

People whose teeth in an arch are mostly failing or missing, and people whose dentures are not working for them. Good general health matters, as does enough bone to anchor the implants, though full-arch techniques are designed to make the most of the bone you have. A CBCT scan at your consultation gives a real answer.

I was told I do not have enough bone for implants. Can I still have them?

Often, yes. All-on-4 angles the back implants to use the denser bone toward the front of the jaw, which avoids grafting for many patients who were told they would need it. Where bone is truly limited, grafting or other approaches may be options. Your scan tells us which.

Are there health conditions that rule it out?

Very few rule it out entirely, but some need extra planning: uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking, certain medications that affect bone, and recent radiation to the jaw among them. Tell us your full health history at your consultation so we can plan safely.

Should I save my remaining teeth instead?

Sometimes, and we will tell you if so. If you have healthy teeth with good bone around them, treating those individually is more conservative and usually costs less. Full-arch treatment makes sense when the remaining teeth do not have a predictable future.

Surgery & recovery

Will I leave with teeth on the day of surgery?

In most cases, yes. When the implants are stable at surgery, a fixed provisional arch is attached before you go home. If an implant needs more time before it can carry load, we protect it first and attach the teeth once it can.

Will I be awake?

You can choose. Sedation options range from light relaxation to deeper sedation, and we will recommend what suits the length of your procedure and your comfort. Plan for someone to drive you home.

What is recovery like?

Expect swelling and soreness for the first several days, managed with medication and rest. Most people return to desk work within a few days. You will be on a soft diet while the implants heal, typically for the first few months.

How long until I have my final teeth?

Usually three to six months after surgery, once the implants have bonded with your bone. Your timeline depends on bone quality and whether grafting was needed, and your plan will give you dates specific to your case.

Living with your new teeth

Can I eat normally?

Once your final arch is in, most people eat nearly everything they used to, with a bite much closer to natural teeth than a denture allows. Very hard foods like ice and hard candy are best avoided, as they are with natural teeth.

How do I clean full-arch implant teeth?

Brush twice a day and clean under the bridge daily with a water flosser or floss threaders. We show you exactly how before you leave. Regular maintenance visits include a professional clean around the implants and periodic removal of the arch for a deeper clean.

How long do they last?

The implants are designed to last for decades with good care. The prosthetic teeth may need repair or replacement over the years depending on the material, your bite, and whether you grind your teeth. A night guard is often recommended for grinders.

Cost & visiting

How much does it cost?

It depends on the number of implants, one arch or both, extractions and grafting, sedation, and the final arch material. You will get a written, itemized plan after your consultation.

Does insurance cover it?

Most dental plans contribute toward part of the treatment, usually up to the plan's annual maximum. We will check your benefits and help with claims. Financing is available for the balance.

Where are you located?

We are at 400 Townline Rd, Ste 150, Hauppauge, NY 11788, in Suffolk County on Long Island. We are open Mon to Fri, 9am to 4pm.

What should I bring to my consultation?

A list of your medications, your dental insurance card if you have one, and any recent X-rays or records from your current dentist. If you are coming for a second opinion on existing implants, bring whatever records you have from that treatment.
